Applying for the SCBScN Program for High School Graduates or Current Adult 12 Students or Adult 12 Graduates
The SCBScN program is a four-year, full-time program for students who want to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Applicants who have completed grade 12 or Adult 12 can apply for direct entry to the SCBScN program. That means no requirement for a pre-professional year. Applicants must have completed the admission requirements with a minimum of 70% in each course by the document deadline.
Upon acceptance to the SCBScN program, students must be prepared to live in their campus city (Regina or Saskatoon) throughout the duration of their program. Travel outside of Regina and Saskatoon may be required for practice education placements. This program includes on-site lectures, labs, seminars, and practice education.
There is one intake for the fall term.
Admission Requirements
Applicants who have completed Grade 12, or who are currently enrolled in the Adult 12 program in Saskatchewan, or have completed the Adult 12 program, must present the following courses for admission to the program:
- One of English Language Arts 30, Francais Franskaskois A 30 or Francais Immersion 30
- One of Foundations of Math 30, Pre-Calculus 30, or Calculus 30
- Biology 30
- Chemistry 30
All previous or current University of Regina students must present a minimum UGPA of 65.00%.
All applicants who have completed post-secondary course work must be considered in good standing (i.e. not on faculty or university level probation) at the University of Regina or former academic institution as of the start date of the program to retain their seat.
Entry into the SCBScN program is competitive based on the applicant’s overall average in the required high school programs. A minimum grade of 70% is required in each of the above required courses. The minimum overall average varies each year based on the number of applicants to the program and their average grades. Qualified applicants with the highest admission average will be selected for the program.
Please note: Saskatchewan high school students can present math requirements under the new and/or former curriculum. The previous Saskatchewan mathematics courses of Math A30, Math B30 or Math C30 will be accepted.
Students applying from other Canadian provinces need to present equivalent courses. Applicants from other Canadian provinces or other countries may present the equivalent course(s) at the secondary or post-secondary level. GED will not be accepted in lieu of Grade 12.

How to Apply
- Fill out the undergraduate application for admission on the University of Regina’s Application Management portal
- If you have not previously used the online application, you will create a new login ID and password
- For application type, choose Undergraduate Application
- For Program of Study choose one of:
- Nursing => “Collaborative Nursing” for 4-year English SCBScN program
- Nursing => “Collaborative Nursing Bilingual” for 4-year Bilingual SCBScN program
- Applicants may only apply to one site (Regina or Saskatoon), this choice is given on the application form. If you become waitlisted at your location of choice and a seat becomes available to you at a different site, you may be contacted and offered that seat at the alternative site.
- Pay $100 (CAD) for undergraduate applicants and $200 for post-secondary transfer applicant. You can pay your fee by credit card or Flywire when submitting your application form online. To arrange alternative payment methods, please contact your Admissions Office.
Note:
- An applicant may apply for both the Bilingual Program Option and English SCBScN program. Please fill out two separate applications.
- Applicants must declare all post-secondary institutions attended for any length of time. Failure to disclose attendance at any post-secondary institution will lead to cancellation of your application, or withdrawal from the program.
Applicants are accepted based on their competitive admission average and number of seats available at each location. There are a limited number of seats in the SCBScN Program and there are often more applications than seats. Meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission.
Application Fee
There is a non-refundable application fee of $100 (CAD) for undergraduate applicants and $200 for post-secondary transfer applicant. You can pay your fee by credit card or Flywire when submitting your application form online. To arrange alternative payment methods, please contact your Admissions Office.
If you are a current or former University of Regina student, you are not required to pay this application fee; however, you must provide your University of Regina student identification number for verification and check off the box on the application form indicating that you are a current/former University of Regina student.
Official High School Transcripts
Applicants currently in high school at the time of application will submit two transcripts with their application;
- one by the transcript deadline, and
- one after their have received their final grades.
Saskatchewan applicants must request their transcript to be sent electronically from the Ministry of Education directly to the University of Regina. For details on the supporting documents, you need and how to submit them for your application, review the Admission Documents and Transcripts page.
Official Post Secondary Transcripts
Applicants must declare all current and previous post-secondary education on their application regardless of the field of study. This includes any institution from which you have received transfer credit. Failing to disclose attendance at any post-secondary institution may lead to cancellation of your application, ineligible for transfer credit, and may face revocation of admission.
Applicants who plan to complete courses after they have submitted their application, must notify the University of Regina, Admissions team. Failure to notify the University of Regina of any undeclared post-secondary attendance will result in cancellation of application or revocation of admission.

The language of instruction at the University of Regina is English. All applicants to the University of Regina must therefore demonstrate an appropriate level of proficiency in the English language. Visit English Language Proficiency (ELP) Requirements for more information.
If you are a First Nation, Métis, or Inuit applicant, you may qualify for an equity seat if you provide one of the following forms of verification:
- Certificate of Indian Status
- Métis Membership Card
- Letter of confirmation of Indigenous ancestry from either your Band’s Indian Registry Administrator or Métis Local

Decision & Notification of Successful Applicants
Initial admission offers will be communicated electronically using email prior to mid-April. Please ensure that you are checking your email frequently, or direct communication to an account that you do use frequently.
Unless otherwise stated, you typically have 15 days to respond to any further requests. The deadline for responding to the offer of admission is noted in your letter of offer.
Admission to the SCBScN program is competitive, therefore only students with the highest admission average will be selected. Applicants are accepted based on their competitive admission average and number of seats available at their identified location.

What if I am currently taking courses?
High School Courses
Applicants who are currently upgrading a required high school subject must notify the University of Regina of which subject(s) they are currently upgrading. Their official high school transcript reflecting the upgraded mark(s), and all final marks from the Adult 12 program, must be received by March 15.
Post Secondary Courses
Applicants who are currently upgrading a required high school subject with a post-secondary equivalent must submit an official post-secondary transcript by March 15.
Applicants who are enrolled in post-secondary courses at the time of application, must submit a subsequent, final transcript by August 1 (in addition to the transcript submission by March 15).
Applicants with outstanding grades at another post-secondary institution as of August 1 will be required to have an additional transcript submitted to the University of Regina by September 1.
Applicants who are currently completing courses at the University of Regina must maintain a UGPA of 65.00%. If an applicant’s UGPA at the University of Regina is below 65.00%, they will not be considered for admission or will have their admission revoked.
What to do if I want to lighten the course load in the first year of nursing?
Applicants who wish to lighten their course load can complete the following courses at the University of Regina with a minimum grade of 60%:
- ENGL 100
- INHS 100
- STAT 100
- *BIOL 110 or KIN 261
- *BIOL 111 or KIN 262
- *BIOL 222
- 3 Open Electives (may be complete with a minimum grade of 50%, restrictions apply)
*Courses marked with an asterisk can only be completed through the Nursing Readiness Certificate.
Applicants who are currently admitted to the University of Regina can complete these courses in their current faculty. Applicants who are not current University of Regina students are encouraged to apply to the Nursing Readiness Certificate, offered through the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE). For more information on this certificate and admission requirements, please visit the Centre for Continuing Education website. Completion of one of these certificates does not guarantee admission into the SCBScN program.
If you have attempted 15 or more credit hours of approved post-secondary education by the application deadline for the SCBScN program, you will be considered a post-secondary applicant.
